Ningbo municipal government held a press conference on economic performance of Ningbo in the first quarter on April 22. Spokesmen of Municipal Bureau of Statistics Tang Bosheng answered questions on the influence of steadily rising CPI to the life of urban and rural residents in Ningbo. According to calculation, CPI of Ningbo is 6.7% in the first quarter, up by 4% over the same period of last year and 2.8% compared with the CPI of 2007 and created a new record ever since 1997. The rise in the food sector is highest, up by 16.9% compared with the same period of last year, and is 10.2% higher than the average increase of CPI.
