State Oceanic Administration has approved Yu Shan Islands as the first sea ecological special protection area at state level in China. Ningbo Bureau for sea and Fishery announced this news on Aug 18. Yu Shan Island is located in south east of Xiang Shan and consists of 13 islands and 41 reefs. Total area is 2 sq.km. Because of unique natural environment and abundant resources, lots of marine organism gather there, such as 135 kinds of planktonic plants, 65 kinds of planktonic animals, 119 kinds of benthos etc.
